Other beautiful things around the house

It's that time of year.  spring!  I am in love with the ranunculas and poppies.  We had a frost a few days later but they are ok!

Come on.  Outrageous color!

Sohrob's Terrarium - we collected the lichens on a rainy day in Inverness.

Never thought I would feel so strongly about a cactus.  Every day a new bud appears.

Sohrob's passion for sauerkraut and kimchi is inspiring.

One year ago...

One year ago today Isaiah burst into our lives like a comet, so fast and so bright.  Both of us were in shock by the speed of his arrival.  Forty weeks to the day he decided it was time to make his grand entrance.  He was eight pounds, four ounces, and 21.5 inches long like his sister.  He didn't have much hair and his body seemed tense like he wanted to be back in my womb, curled up tightly.  I remember it took him a long time to unfold his arms and legs.  He screamed with so much energy and lung power that we were at a loss for how to comfort him.  My midwife said he was telling his story -- she worries more about the quiet babies.

A year later Isaiah is still telling his story.  He has sounds that are words and lots of them.  He says "hi" when someone comes into the room, especially "dada."  "Whoa, ball, mum, didi (diaper), baba (baby), babaday (birthday?)" are some of his favorites. He always had a sincere desire to communicate -- he is very a friendly soul.  Even at eight weeks old I remember he clearly said "hello" to a few people and they were blown away!

He had a little more hair than when he was born, but it is still soft, wispy and blond.  To me he he looks like a combination of baby, a little boy and an old wise man. His eyes are still changing -- moving towards green-blue-brown.  They are filled with love and intelligence.  He had lots of energy and is a curious explorer of his world.  He is genuinely excited when he sees his big sister.  He also is very enthusiastic about all animals and plants.  He also loves music and has a funny little dance move that he does while he sings or jumps.  What else can I say.  I am so grateful that he is here.  Our family feels full.  Our hearts are full.  Happy birthday sweet boy!

We are having a few computer problems which have prevented me from updating the blog with pictures, but hopefully it will be fixed soon!  Thanks for your patience.
